Document Storage System 2.03 Info Page    |    Download Data Added: March 25, 2002 Document Storage System (DSS) was created to easily store and manage virtually any type of document into a searchable database. These documents can be acquired directly from a scanner, existing files, or created from almost any application on your Windows based system. DSS could be used to store a wide variety of documents including billing and invoices for home and office use, x-rays for medical, blueprints for manufacturing, or any other type of Windows documents for any corporate organization. Along with the images or documents, you may enter information about the document, so these documents can be easily searched and found in the future. These documents are stored in a compressed format in the provided MS Access database or there is a version available to use with an enterprise database of your choice. You may even add your own custom fields that can be searched as well. When you scan a paper document in DSS, the document is converted to jpeg format automatically to conserve space in the database. All other types of documents like MS Word documents, MS Excel spreadsheets, Adobe PDF files, or any other types of files are also compressed before being stored in the database. DSS was developed to be fully scalable from the home office to a large multi-user organization. As your organization grows, you can easily upgrade the database you are using from one like MS Access to MS SQL Server, Oracle, or Sybase without requiring a different version of DSS. You can even copy your database into a format, which can be read from a CD-ROM. With DSS compression technology, literally thousands of documents can be stored using less space than regular files on disk. DSS also segments the information about the document(s) separate from the actual document and image records so database performance is never compromised even when there is a high number of document records. DSS has a simple interface, but does include a help file to help get you started. DSS is ready to grow with your organization. We also have options available so your document can be retrieved into a browser for internet / intranet usage.
